I was just given access to the new homepage layout of Facebook and I am pretty excited! Bigger photos, clean look-and-feel, straight forward navigation. Have a look:
This is how it looks when you login. The default content is “All Friends” updates and the left and right hand menus are hidden. By clicking on them, you get all the available options.
On the left side menu, you will find the Messages, the pages you manage, the Apps you have installed, the Adverts Manager and your Groups, not much different than the previous layout. What has been added here is the Chat options. The Chat window, though, opens at the same place as previously, on the bottom right of the page. The most interesting thing about this menu is that it stays there as you navigate Facebook, so you can access it anytime.
On the right side menu you can select the types of updates you want to see on your news feed: “All Friends”, “Following”, “Groups”, “Photos”, “Games”, “Music”, “Most Recent” and your lists.
I’m sure there will be a lot of complaining by users, like every time Facebook changes, but I belive that, finally, they will find it much better and easier to use.
What do you think of the new layout?
