It’s been a month since I left Liverpool and came back to Athens for a new start close to my family and friends. When I first left Greece, three years ago, there was no conversation about Web 2.0 and social media. I had never heard of these terms and online marketing was pretty much HTML and Flash websites featuring a lot of information and, for the most forward-thinking, a few interactive sections, like games and competitions.

Three years later, I’ve come back to work on Social Media Marketing. During the last month, I had the chance to meet and talk with social media professionals, getting a better understanding of how things work here, in Greece. What I have found is half surprising and half what you would expect to find in a country which tries to balance between its two sides, western and eastern, in a country which has fallen and risen so many times. The youngsters on one side, full of ideas, passion and talent, willing to create and progress. Clients and big companies on the other side, sceptical, afraid to take risks and invest in fresh and innovative ideas.

Times are difficult in Greece at the moment but what I know is that a few bunches of youngsters have been responsible for a few of the biggest steps forward in history of this world and this country, so I am thinking positive! Let’s just give these weird, new ideas a chance – it’s only for the best!

Καλώς ήρθα και καλώς σας βρήκα και ελπίζω να περάσουμε πολύ, πολύ δημιουργικά!
